As you enter the small cozy jewellery store at 480 Brant Street in the downtown core of Burlington, you get a glimpse of a real craftsman’s atelier. The jewellery which is created there is unique in both design and quality. Pieces are handmade in either platinum or gold and showcase the fine craftsmanship of Burlington’s newest jeweller.David Jockheck, which the store marquee bares his family name, is a third generation master jeweller and goldsmith and continues a family tradition that began in 1936 in Bremen Germany. Commencing his apprenticeship in 1976, David had already become an integral member of the firm when his father Walter was commissioned by Henry Birks & Sons, Inc. in 1981 to produce an exquisite broach for the Royal Regiment of Canada. The latter would be the wedding gift the regiment presented to Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles to commemorate their marriage. Since those early days, David has gone onto work for a large and respected jewellery firm here in Canada as well as spend many years with the prestigious house of Harry Winston in New York.
