For generations, the people of the Tlingit tribes have celebrated the feeling of peacefulness and spirit of family felt at the nesting sites of birds, naming these places “Taku”. Today, friends and family flock together in that same sense of harmony and belonging on the shores of Quadra Island at a special place named Taku Resort. After searching up the coast from Salt Spring to Campbell River, five families purchased Taku Resort together in February 1983. However, Taku had been established well before there was even a ferry. Originally it had a large main A-frame building for a restaurant, twelve motel rooms, five cabins and a grocery store with live bait. We’ve kept most of the structures the same and have tried our best to keep as many trees as possible.Taku still holds it’s charm of being a welcoming family and outdoor experience resort. Today the resort is still owned by one of the original five families, the Wongs. Fei and Milton Wong have molded the resort to give people a home away from home where they could experience nature, create lasting memories with family and friends and cook together.
