Ned grew up in the small community of St. Catherine{s in St. Mary{s Bay, Newfoundland. In 1986 he graduated with a BA in Art History from Acadia University then moved on to UBC to study architecture. Disliking it immensely, he returned to eastern Canada and earned a BFA in Fine Arts (Photography) at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.Upon graduation, Ned began a freelance career working as a photo editor for the Sunday Express, a critically acclaimed newspaper published in Newfoundland from 1989-1991. In subsequent years his work has appeared in the New York Times, Newsweek, Maclean{s, The Globe & Mail, Canadian Geographic and the Financial Post.His extensive portfolio reveals his technical and creative skills in areas such as food, fashion, architectural, photojournalism, and fine art photography for numerous national/international magazines and corporations. His work is used extensively in commercial publications, advertising, corporate promotion, and for trade show exhibits. Clients include Fortis Properties, Iron Ore Company of Canada, Fishery Products International, Canadian Geographic, The New York Times, and many others.Ned Pratt{s photographs can be found in various private, public and corporate collections including the Ford Motor Company of Canada{s Photographic Collection at the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, The Department of External Affairs, Ottawa and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. His work has been exhibited throughout Canada, in the United States and Japan.
