It was in 1986 in the food court of First Canadian Place that we faithfully put our savings into what seemed like a fruitless run-of-the-mill, over-the-counter cafeteria. We embarked with nothing more than a few good menu ideas, and conviction in the maxim that in the restaurant industry: {good food is good business{. Within a year of naming our business Pumpernickels Deli and Catering and introducing original classic homemade deli items, the food spoke for itself. Day after day, the lineups in front of the counter seemed to stretch farther and farther out of sight. Lunch-lovers of FCP spread the good word of Pumpernickel{s, and in no time a contagious enthusiasm filled the lines.
