Maitland was founded in 1976 in Luxembourg to provide cross-border legal and tax advisory services to private and corporate clients.The Luxembourg office grew rapidly and further expansion began in 1982 with the acquisition of a fiduciary business in Geneva. Driven by our clients’ needs, we continued to expand in Europe and internationally throughout the eighties and nineties. As the complexity of services grew, the firm was organised into legal advisory and trust & corporate services. In the early nineties, client demand grew for Maitland to provide wealth management services.Simultaneously, we found clients asked increasingly for fund services, such as structuring, reporting and administration services for investment funds and we developed our fund services business, which led to the acquisition of a dedicated fund services team in 2005. This has now evolved into a multi-jurisdictional business offering services to the full range of investment funds on appropriate best-of-breed systems.
