The Licensed Paralegals Association(LPA) comprises a group of paralegals, licensed and regulated as of May 2008 by the Law Society of Upper Canada, who provide legal services to the public, corporations, and institutions in the Province of Ontario. Paralegal practitioners carry professional liability insurance and have demonstrated the skills and competence levels required to serve the needs of those accessing the justice system. All members of LPA adhere and comply to professional Rules of Conduct as set out by the Law Society of Upper Canada.Many LPA members have specialized in certain areas of practice where their background and years of experience have made them the most dedicated and effective advocates. That includes proceedings in Small Claims Courts, Ontario Courts of Justice in matters under the Provincial Offences Act, Highway Traffic Act, in a Summary conviction court under the Criminal Code, and before various tribunals established by the Province of Ontario which include Landlord/Tenant, Workers Benefits.
