Owned by winemakers, Anna & Jason Flowerday, Te Whare Ra (TWR) vineyard proudly creates great wines using a combination of organic and biodynamic practices. Yields are kept low, and all the fruit is hand picked and hand-sorted. We take pride in the fact that our wines are made with minimal intervention, specifically set up for small batch winemaking.Founded in 1979, Te Whare Ra Wines is the oldest boutique winery in Marlborough. The name, that translates from Maori to mean "The House in the Sun". It reflects the climate around Renwick, in the heart of the Wairau Valley wine growing district. The long summer sunlight hours, cool winters and free draining river shingle soils are keys to the region{s success in wine-making.
