L eRoy "Roy" Atkinson founded Atkinson Funeral Home in Archie, Missouri in 1929 with the motto "Your Desires and Our Services in Perfect Harmony." The Harrisonville location was opened on the east side of the historic Harrisonville Square in 1933 and moved to the current location, a historic home on Wall Street, in 1937. Roy{s son, Robert W. "Bob" Atkinson, joined the firm in 1953, after a tour of duty with the Air Force. In 1967, they acquired the Six Funeral Home in Adrian, Missouri. Bob{s son, David Atkinson, carried on the family tradition and joined the firm in 1980.David is now the owner and president of Atkinson Funeral Homes, Inc., serving Cass and Bates Counties in the same spirit as his grandfather 80 years ago.
