Volcano Ridge Vineyard is located on the steep slopes of an extinct cinder cone at 2,200 feet above sea level on the eastern end of High Valley. The pure volcanic soils are ideal for vine stress, restricting crop yields, and making wine that has both intensity and elegance.WINEMAKINGOur winemaking team is fanatical about quality and the use of traditional handcrafted techniques. It creates wines with both style and finesse. Fermented in small lots using native yeast, only the best lots were chosen to create the 2012 Eruption. The wine was blended early and bottled without filtration.TASTING NOTESThe 2012 Eruption is rich and intense. The wine has aromas of fresh blueberries, toasted brioche, black cherries, and mocha, giving way to flavors that are jammy, ripe and unctuous. The palate explodes with blackberries, dark currants, and clove while it layers supple and round coating tannins, making the wine both hedonistic while simultaneously elegant. The texture of this wine is perhaps its most distinguishing trait – mouth-coating with an endless finish
