Founded in 1979 by William Skelton, The Acupuncture Clinic has been instrumental in bringing acupuncture into the South Carolina and Georgia healthcare system by providing services in hospitals, health institutions and private practice.Over the years, William Skelton has been at the forefront of a national effort to bring acupuncture into our medical system in a sensible and safe way. From 1987 to 1996 he served as an executive commissioner for the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and also on the National Acupuncture Foundation. In those positions he worked to develop the national acupuncture boards, state acupuncture examinations, and assisted state agencies to develop practice standards, acupuncture legislation and licensing. He has served on both South Carolina and Georgia medical board acupuncture committees.
