Jean{s Upper Crust.Our bakery is family owned and operated, and has been serving the Danville area for generations. It all started with Jean, the Grandmother, when she started a "mini bakery" in her basement over 40 years ago. Back then she would take her pies to local shops around the Bismarck/Danville area to sell to the townspeople. Her sweets were known around the town but were especially expected at her famous rummage sales. Since then she went on to own and operate the original Jean{s Uppercrust off of Vermillion St. in the 80{s. Soon after, Jean started working at the Sweet Shop on Main St. where she made a permanent name for herself and her Danville Famous Pies.James (Larry) is her youngest son and father of Brittany. James got married and raised Brittany and her sister Bethany in Georgia and North Carolina. James moved back to Danville in 2010 to take care of Jean after his father passed away. Brittany stayed in NC, while Bethany moved to California for college.After a while, James made several offers to try to get his daughters to come home with him. All to no success. Finally, Jean and James came up with the idea to re-open Jean{s Uppercrust as a final attempt to sway his daughters mind. Shortly after, Brittany was on her way "home" and the wonderful journey of a family business began.
