Frank Brazington, Superintendent of City Missions for Baltimore. Tabernacle was established as the Tabernacle Baptist Chapel and was sponsored by the Middle River Baptist.The Bennett Road property was purchased in 1948. By November, the church had purchased two dismantled Army barracks from Aberdeen for $1100. The men began the construction process on Thanksgiving Day 1948 for the original building (now the Educational Facility).On October 11, 1949, the auditorium was completed and the first worship service was held. However, the use of the HIWAY theater continued for Sunday School, as the members would march up Bennett Road to the new facility for worship services.The church was constituted in January of 1950 and Rev. Norris was called as its first Pastor. On October 14, 1953 the members elected to incorporate and subsequently elected corporate Trustees.
