A life-long interest in fine food and artisan craft led Rick Davis, Proprietor and Winemaker of Calstar Cellars, to the wine industry. Using his graduate studies in soil science as a springboard, Rick first began winemaking in the Hudson Valley of New York before moving to the Russian River Valley to follow his passion for cool-climate Pinot Noir.Rick has been winemaking in coastal Sonoma and Mendocino Counties for over 20 years, working for Flowers Winery, Londer Vineyards, Halleck Vineyards, La Czar Vineyards and Alcina Cellars, before founding Calstar Cellars. His own label is an opportunity to produce wines of the highest quality that provide great pleasure at the table while showcasing the unique cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of the Sonoma coast, as well as old-vine Zinfandel from Amador County
