The Heartland United Way serves Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick counties in Nebraska by identifying community needs and directing resources to address those needs. Purpose: To increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another. Services: Community fund raising and special events; Venture grants for non-profit health and human service programs; Non-profit management and technical assistance; Volunteer leadership development; Community problem solving and assessment; Provide information to agencies and public about potential volunteer opportunities and volunteers. The Heartland United Way was one of the agencies instrumental in getting the new 2-1-1 information and referral line extablished in central Nebraska. 2-1-1 was activated July 1, 2004.
