Lawrence F. Schroepfer with his son Orville J. founded “ L. Schroepfer & Son Well Drilling” in 1953, and engaged in a well drilling, pump installation and pump repair business. In 1960, Orville and his wife Marilyn took over the daily operation and re-named the company “Schroepfer Well Drilling”. The company had been located in Beaufort, but in 1970 Orville & Marilyn moved it to its current location at 7512 Hwy 185 Leslie, MO.In 1972, Orville drilled the company’s first geothermal boreholes. For several years the company continued drilling only the boreholes. Geothermal systems work with drilling boreholes, water, piping and electric which are all part of a water well systems. It only made sense for the company to make the transition and install a complete geothermal system. As we term it “From the ground to the thermostat”. The company has been installing the complete geothermal system for over 20 years. The Schroepfer Geothermal division was created in 1990.
