After 17 years making Zinfandel in the Sierra foothills, it was time for a change. Off to the beach I went for a little sun and introspection. The result was to rethink the wine business and simplify the process with two principles , quality and value. The only tradition we follow is great wine-making, otherwise we have thrown out the book. It was my daughters who convinced me to continue to do what I love, but they wanted to make sure it would be fun for the whole family. That is about the time we started Cabana Wines. It was karma, the name was perfect and they enjoyed making quality wines. Every day since I joined Cabana Wines it has been like a day at the beach. It{s wonderful having daughters smarter than you.
