Land of Paws was founded in 1993 by veterinarians Dr. Mark Daly and Dr. George Gates and their wives, Patty Daly and Pam Gates. Their mission was to provide the Kansas City community with something that was missing: An upscale dog and cat store offering the most exclusive pet supplies, toys, treats, pet apparel and boutique items for a pet owner and their pets delivered with extraordinary customer service. The flag ship store, conveniently located next door to the veterinary practice, proved to be an instant success with the pet lovers and shoppers of Kansas City. With the brilliant combination of veterinarian expertise and fabulous taste, the store established an impeccable and exciting reputation that still holds true today. Ten years later in 2003, Kristen Daly and Catelin Carey approached the owners, wanting to expand the business and open a second location in the affluent suburb of Overland Park, Kansas.
