Abby was born in South Africa, completed high school and started a five year apprenticeship with some of the best jewelry craftsmen around. The first three years he apprenticed with Jordi Gil a Spaniard who was a winner of many awards such as the S.A. Jewelry designer’s awards and the South African gold and diamond awards. At Jordi Gil{s place, Abby was trained in the tradition of the Great European Masters of the jewelry trade. The remaining two years of his apprenticeship was under the guidance of Hines Kurts a German how was a master amongst masters. He then started Abby{s designs in South Africa at the age of twenty-two.
