About

Located in northern Santa Barbara County on the Sisquoc River 14miles east of Santa Maria, Rancho Sisquoc is part of an 1852 Spanishland grant. The Chumash Indians called this area "Sisquoc", whichmeant "gathering place".  Today Rancho Sisquoc is again a gatheringplace, this time for wine lovers. As you drive the road that snakes along the edge of the valley floor tothe ranch headquarters and tasting room, you leave the rush of thepresent day behind. The farmhouse and barn date from the early1900s, and artifacts of an earlier age give the ranch the feeling of atime when the pace was slower and unrushed.Warmer than vineyards in the lower Santa Maria Valley, RanchoSisquoc is cooler than the Santa Ynez Valley only twenty miles to thesouth due to what is known as the transverse range, which are coastalmountains running west to east that bring cool winds and fog inlandfrom the Pacific Ocean.
