He earned his bachelor of arts degree in Biology from Northwestern University (while still finding time to be a member of their varsity swimming team) and his doctor of dental surgery degree from Washington University School of Dental Medicine.He then completed his specialized post-graduate training, while earning a masters degree in orthodontics from the St. Louis University with a Magna Cum Laude distinction. While there he received numerous academic awards including the most prestigious J.P.Marshall Award from St. Louis University as valdictorian of his orthodontic class.
