In 1947 the Brotherhood of the First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, Alabama decided a mission was needed in the Circlewood area. Four lots were purchased from Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Cole for use as a future church site.In June 1948, the deacons of First Baptist Church recommended that a tent be placed on the lots and that Dr. N.D. Timmerman preach a revival.The little mission in a tent was off to a good start. In June 1949 the First Baptist Church voted to proceed with building and the first service in the building was conducted on February 5, 1950.On January 23, 1952 Circlewood voted to incorporate and become a separate church. On January 30, 1952 it was decided that the official name of the church would be "Circlewood Baptist Church." The First Baptist Church deeded the property to Circlewood in December 1952.
