Westervelt Lodge is one of the last remaining large hunting properties in the southeast. The 12,000 acres of contiguous land is nestled along the Tombigbee River in west Alabama. When the land originally purchased a cutting edge wildlife management program was put in place by Ray Redmond, our first wildlife biologist, to restore and improve the wildlife population. Westervelt was used for private entertainment by the Gulf States Paper Corporation for the next three decades. In 1973, Westervelt Lodge was opened to the public as Alabamas first commercial hunting lodge and is well known as one of the finest sporting properties in the south.
