The First Congregational Church was founded in 1691 as the first organized church in Waterbury. The original location of the meeting-house was on the green in downtown Waterbury. The present congregation is the product of the merger of First and Second Congregational Churches, and the Italian Congregational Church. We have since moved to our present location at the corner of Holmes Avenue, Central Avenue and West Main Street, and continue to minister to the needs of the members of our community..We belong to the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ, (www.ctucc.org). We are members of the Naugatuck Valley Association and Congregational Union, (First Congregational Church, Bunker Hill Congregational Church, South Congregational Church and Mill Plain Union Church, all in Waterbury). We are members of the Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries (GWIM) which operates a food bank, a resource center, and soup kitchen at St. John{s Church on West Main Street. We offer opportunities for fellowship including our Adult Choir, Youth Group and Craft Groups.
