Bob Brobeck became interested in Pest Control back in 1965 while recuperating from injuries in Portsmouth Naval Hospital. I made friends with Woody, a Warrant Officer that ran the Bug Shack. The Bug Shack was an in-house exterminating facility that serviced the fleet and ground installations. So I answered the phone and received an education in pest control at the same time. In those days they used chlorinated hydrocarbon oil base DDT, chlordane with a broadband spray and painted everything in site. Since then Pest Control has been refined to an environmental friendly approach.I took courses in Entomology at Purdue University. In 1972 with the support of my wife, three children, and a used IBM Typewriter, Pat and I started Acorn Termite and Pest Control Inc. I stuck to my philosophy that if your good at something and you like it every thing will work out and if you make a customer happy, your happy. The beneficiary of the philosophy is thousands of customers we have been servicing for 35 years. Two of my children are now involved with the business and with eleven grandchildren the future of Acorn looks like it{s growing..
