Landscaping 101 – Part 2
The first part of this blog covered a few of the issues that need to be kept in mind when planning a landscape. Whether your yard is large or small, oddly shaped, flat or uneven, what you do to enhance its appeal will add to the look and feel of the home. That said, let us get on with the basics.
Relook at the Space Available
A familiar space is often taken for granted. Spend time and take a relook at the yard and note all the issues you have been overlooking over the years. These could be problems to be solved or opportunities to do something special.
Do Not Overthink It
Do not get too complex. You may want a walkway laid out in a certain way, but will it be usable? How often have you been to a public park and seen a sidewalk with a worn grassy path leading off it? That is because the grassy way is more convenient for people to use.

Remember That Change Is a Part of Life
There may be aspects of the yard that you are used to and want to retain. That’s natural, but will the old and the new work together? Do not be afraid of making changes – you may have outgrown the yard you planted some years ago. Maybe you don’t even realize it. Reckless change is not good, but neither is being scared of doing something new. Keep an open mind toward the concepts you come across. Sod services can be done quickly, but that is just one aspect of the project. The use of a sod installer is anyway best left to experts.
Be Patient
A landscape does not come into being overnight. Nature cannot be rushed and plants, shrubs, hedges and the rest will grow at their own pace. Compromising on the best and most attractive aspects of the landscape to have it completed quickly will produce a result that will leave you dissatisfied and with a landscape that is not what you truly wanted.
Whatever you plan for your landscape, the 3 key factors to keep in mind are the following:
- The landscape is yours so it must be what you want it to be.
- That said, your home shouldn't stick out like a sore thumb from the rest of the neighborhood.
- Remember all the things you plan to use the space for and incorporate those applications into the landscape design.

All this may sound confusing and like a lot of work. No one said that creating the perfect landscape for your yard would be easy. However, you don’t need to sweat it. Consult a professional landscaping company and tell the experts what you want, and how the space will be used and allow them to present you with ideas. A good landscaper will work with you to create the perfect landscape for you and your home. In addition, the company will take care of the landscape maintenance for you so that you have all the time you need to enjoy the beautiful outdoor part of your home.
